Diaper Cake

Long lost post on my creation of a 3-tier diaper cake for my newborn nephew!

SPIDER NEPHEW!! Yes, the cutest suit ever. And I don't even like babies. They've always looked like aliens to me - all they do is eat, puke, sleep, poop, wake up, and cry like there's no tomorrow. And the worst thing is they don't even tell you what's wrong. You have to guess it. It's like a dangerous female time bomb!

But he is quite the hottie. Here is Ethan asleep as a Chinese uniformed lamb.

Customary to have red eggs for the one month old dinner banquet. And you can't not have 1L bottles of Coke&Sprite at a Chinese restaurant hahah.

Delish ish ness!

A moment of Rescue

Writings from March 2009:

So there I sat with the chilly cold air - my down jacket and my dark brown stiletto boots, crosslegged in the middle of the block, looking left and right for any signs of familiar life that I might know of.

On my right, she was waiting. She and her big camel brown purse pacing back and forth occasionally checking the cell phone for any signals of recognition. And I looked to my left, a tall slim guy with a dance of cigarette smoke following behind him. Messenger bag, nicely casual, very neat. He was walking towards her.

Her smile grew as she neared him. He gives her a tight hug, and kisses her on her ear. They pause there in silence for a two second embrace. No words spoken, he takes her big heavy camel purse from her grasp, throws it over his shoulder. They move along, hand in hand. I watched. They eventually disappeared, and faded into the streetlight corner.

I smile and look down, pulling up my collar as I sat on the cold concrete edge, waiting. What is taking so long? I look to my left. A tall figure was walking towards me, suited fully as dark as the night. He smiles, starts to speed up, even starts to run a little bit. I never realized how handsome he looked when he’s all cleaned up…

His pace steadies. He gave me one good look, and takes off his earmuffs to put it on my head. No words spoken, I got up and we walked together.

50 Years of Barbie Doll Display

"In the biggest public display ever in the U.S., 120 iconic Barbie® dolls will be showcased in 60 beautiful vitrines on the 3rd Floor, celebrating five decades of Barbie® doll in fashion, pop culture and inspiration." Through March 15 @ Bloomingdale's 59th Street."

The mannequins on the second floor were Barbicized! The one on the right above and this one shown under is the first original Barbie ever.

uhmm.. I just HAD to take a picture of this Malibu Barbie from the side... and check out her crazy tan!

locksoflove.org would love this one.

MY FAVORITE ONE hahahhah hilarious. It's probably a NYC Rush Hour Barbie, I don't remember. So many of them.

Barbie becomes astronaut.

Barbie goes arrrggghh

venom and cancan

And here are the Barbie versions of some celebrities:

Cher

Diana Ross

Marilyn Monroe

Beyonce! She also made an appearance at Bloomie's back in October for Cadillac Records.

Kimora

James Dean

Elvis Presley

And MC Hammer. Complete with Boombox and all - I feel deeply for the Barbie stuck in the same case as him.

I demand to know why James Brown wasn't made a Barbie!!

Barbies coming to life at Bryant Park above during Fashion Week - the Barbie-inspired runway soundtrack mix was just simply fitting to say the least.

Tokyo! and Deitch

Went to watch Tokyo! yesterday. (Thank god the staff there were good people because my friend actually bought online tix for Friday instead of Saturday... what a GENIUS hahah :P) I wasn't that impressed with the first two stories in the film, but I really liked the third one by Bong Joon-ho called Shaking Tokyo. If you don't know what a hikikomori is, you can go watch it and know.

On to Deitch:
