At the end of the event, Stefan had mentioned that Deitch is closing down at the end of May with their last installation being Shepard Fairey. Please PLEASE go check it out before the owner moves to LA to do his own art thing there!

There is also a wall mural on the corner of Houston and Bowery. YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW PISSED I WAS WHEN ARRIVED THAT SOME PUNK HAD SPRAYED GRAFFITI ALL OVER THE BOTTOM HALF OF THE WALL!!! Can you tell my passion??

Building wall across from Deitch.

Passed by the Morrison Hotel Gallery along the way and snapped a pic of the CBGB awning. I couldn't believe some of the photos I saw inside were worth $6,000+ damn!

If you didn't already know, kidrobot has special edition Simpsons figurines, perfectly awesome.

Next stop was to check out Deluxx Fluxx since I read about it on kRonikle – more pics and info in that link. This runs through May 27th, and is definitely for you if you like neon arcades and comic strips.
"Notorious art collective, FAILE, and street artist, BAST, have brought their neon arcade art installation, DELUXX FLUXX, to New York City. This collaboration first debuted in London last February. Complete with 9 old school arcade style video games and a couple foosball tables. DELUXX FLUXX is completely tantalizing. All the games have been reprogrammed and designed to create a very interactive visual experience. It just opened this last week and will be on display throughout May 27."

Even the hydrant and token machine is adorned. The games don't actually work, but they are all wrapped in designs.

The foosball table in the back blacklite room works though.

And also took advantage of the Starbuck's half price frap happy hour. Poor McDonald's Frappé roll out!

And I also bought a tickle plant from Urban Outfitters haha let's see if the leaves actually shrink and close up instantly when touched! My friend said they have lots of these little weeds in Hong Kong on the sidewalks, dubbed "Shy plants."

Speaking of plants, I got four red roses for no reason at all. My bf did something wrong didn't he?! HAHA :D

Next stop: Theatre for One in Times Square til this Sunday 5/23
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Update 5/19:

So I was hesitant to go check this out after work since I've been staring at the computer screen the whole day measuring things and going blind from colors, but I trekked over anyway. And I was pleasantly surprised, a little disappointed, and experienced something very different that I've never tried before.

So basically, T41 stands for Theatre for One, meaning you get in the box, sit down, and have a 1-on-1 with the performer for 5-10 minutes whether it be an actress monologue/skit, a comedian, singer, magician etcetc. The box itself was very small and intimate – maybe even smaller and narrower than an elevator space. When it is your turn to go in, they tell you to step in and give you a few seconds to be seated and then they slowly reveal your performer by pulling out the middle confession booth styled wood plank wall. There is no glass or anything separating the two of you – you are free to talk and interact and touch them even if was within reason/request.

It's completely random and you never know who you're going to get ... perhaps even a surprise famous person! AND THAT WAS EXACTLY THE CASE TODAY! The Green Day guys showed up as the surprise drop by featured guest! He played one song for a lucky girl, which actually happened to be the girl behind me. Bad timing for me, I know~!

Here's the video of Billy Joe from Green Day coming out of the box!
Awkwardly, I got an actress who did a creepy monologue for me – it was basically her playing the part of a lonely paranoid psychotic with mother problems who was stuck in her teenage years when her HS sweetheart died in a bus crash. I have to admit it was an EXTREMELY uncomfortable experience for me to watch her talk and do her 5 minutes of show. You pretty much have nowhere else to go BUT to look at the performer and give them your undivided attention 1000%. Because it was sort of like a real one on one conversation where she would ask me a few questions about myself and then continue on her rambles about her life, it made her fake situation and story extremely real to the point where I started to get creeped out that she really was going to stand up and start choking me since there was no escape out of the trap. It was definitely a weird intense feeling that one would never be able to feel outside of a 1-on-1 box like that, so I was actually really happy I got to experience that.

Theatre at its best, I guess!
