Joyride & Discoveries

The New York Bicycle Film Festival runs from June 17-21, and Joyride is one of the events celebrating bicycles through film, art, and music. It's an artwalk that runs through a few galleries which are close enough to scurry around to from door to door. I didn't get to drop by right on opening night because it was the last day one of my friends was in town, but I did get to see most of the stuff this weekend! Quick pics follow:

And that was some of the stuff I saw, pretty neat! I also wandered into another gallery by accident thinking it was part of Joyride, but it's not haha. It was interesting...

And then I made a discovery of Gallery Bar, which rotates art in and out every month or so. The series living on the walls underneath here is called "The Endless Summer" by Chad Porter. I loved the vibe there - I'll definitely be back some other day for another Caiprinha :)

And before that we laid down on the fake grass in Columbus park in Chinatown chewing on Big Wong's wonton noodles and soaking in whatever minutes of sun that is left in this dreary New York weather of a summer. It's funny because even though I grew up doing recess in this park, I have never ventured into the section that is the territory of the elderly. But on this particular day, there were some opera performances and dancing going on inside elevated chapel looking building. Check it out:

And so they watched on underneath.

Snapple BBQ Festival

SNO KONES! Unfortunately, this was not that good at all. Snapple should stick to being tea/juice. Look at that snazzy S logo letter on their branded plastic shot cups. I do appreciate the nice shelving they decided on though. Details matter at events.

I've been to Salt Lick's before in Austin, it was delicious! Too bad I didn't get anything from this stand because the lines were way too intimidating. Some as long as 45 minute waits. So my friend and I got Quizno Sammies instead and ated-ed it... we are lame I know hahah. But a lot of the booths closed though... maybe they ran out of meat on a Sunday wow! I did manage to steal one rib from my friend's tray from Blue Smoke though. I ated-ed that and it was a-okay.

We also freeloaded on samples. It was such a tease... mmm.

Psh dollar a picture my ass! Time to break out my spy side foto snappin skillz. Afterall, it IS a SNAP-ple event :P
