Asia! But first a little taste of L5P.

I'm flipping out on how I got a COLD almond milk tea from the Chinese bakery... in NOVEMBER!! Isn't it supposed to be freezing chilly by now, what the freakiness?! I think because I am anticipating my Asia Adventures so much that I have become a pig who breathes in her pigsty of a room. Reading all these wikitravel articles and clicking a million links really gets me pumped up to hop on the plane for 15 hours of torture! I should probably compile a list of things I need to eat or places to go and see when I get to Hong Kong to maximize my 'eat-ability,' but that will probably be in a seperate entry in itself. Things like pig blood congee, or stinky tofu, dimsum, junkfood, desserts, and random streetfood here and there. And especially a McDonald's supersize meal! From what I remember, their supersize = American mediumsize. That makes me wonder how teeny their happy meals are over there then. Sigh damn pictures- they always have a way to tantalize your tastebuds...

No lie- I must've eatten sushi more than 10x in the past 3 months since I've been back from a summer well spent in Atlanta. And 50% of those counts I probably ordered pickup from Tenzan for their lunch special. What can I say? Sushi is my favorite, but it was just NOT an Atlanta specialty. I was deprived of it for ten weeks!! Afterall, the city is landlocked and the nearest beach is a 3-4 hour minitrip drive out to South Carolina. Damn.

But I do miss the big cheap portions of Fat Matt's ribs. Their pulled pork is amazing. Best washed down with a popular drink mix: the 'half n half' sweet tea lemonade. Imagine walking into McDonald's in New York and telling the counter guy that you want half lemonade and half tea in your medium fountain drink. They will look at you like you are crazy picky, and will probably drop some phlegm in there as an extra syrup. But in Atlanta, it's a normal thing for people to order. Awesomeness. Speaking of which- I should really open up that Fat Matt's BBQ Sauce that I bought over the summer.. hmm Autumn BBQ anyone?? Maybe it'll give a new kick to this year's Thanksgiving!

The giant skull door of Vortex in Little Five Points (L5P) is probably bigger than three of me stacked on top of each other. You will know that this bar/grill is full of character even before you step inside to sit down and read their awesome menu, which is full of attitude and personality on its own.

The bar is stocked chuck full o beers.. just look at how many fridge doors there are behind that bar!! This was also the place where I had my first blueberry beer Sweet Water Blue along with their Elvis Burger!

A crazy storefront in L5P that sells weird gadgets/gifts/fun toys/costumes.

So as you can imagine, L5P is a very artsy hipster type of place sorta like Astor Place meets West 4th. This is probably why L5P is my favorite area in Atlanta. One night when I was there, I stumbled across a gallery opening, and as much as I loved the artist's style, he had a shitty personality when I went up to him and introduced myself. At least there was extreme freeloading going on of real food, booze and popsicles! Yeah I'm not gonna promote his shit on my site just because I'm immature like that... psh take that dickwad!
